A Place to Call HOME with Susan Davis and Betty Louise on Just Jan
30 minutes · 2017
An encore presentation as they move forward powerfully with their collaborations here in Nevada County. Meet the creators of this innovative program to change the perception of being homeless.
A Place to Call Home will give voice to four specific groups: homeless people, those working with organizations serving the homeless, officials charged with finding solutions, and community members who are perhaps fearful of homeless people. Organizers hope the audio stories, films, print work and other media developed through the project will stimulate empathy among listeners, viewers and readers.
Davis and Louise said they want to use the arts and humanities — through the work of artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, photographers, poets and others — to inspire a sense of inclusion and common humanity with homeless people. Stay abreast of their project, with many updates since the birth of this project.
The Second half of the program Jan welcomes Betty Louise to discuss her experiences in learning about her sexuality as a personal healing modality.
