Episode 26 Buying In Season From A Farm As Close To You As Possible
This episode begins with a cooking demonstration that I did for a food summit. I show how I make a portable rainbow salads to eat away from home. I use canning jars, and take all of my phytonutrients with me. I don't want to eat processed restaurant or fast food. I eat for health, so this is my solution to avoid chemicals and sugar. Then what is the importance of buying organic as close to the farm as possible. I live in CA or AZ so I have farmer markets year round. My first choice is produce that was picked the day before, or if you can subscribe to a CSA box. Next frozen organic is full nutrition. Then organic from your local store. Then I discuss why buying local is important, how quickly fruits and veggies begin to lose some of their gifts for your body. The quicker from picked to your body, the more phytonutrients you get for health. If you need help figuring out what to eat or how to maximize your nutrition,I am a health coach.
